There must be something in the water in Northern California because good lord has it treated me right this year. Pleasanton, I love you.
Young, passionate, anxious and in love. I loved watching them tell their story as we got to know each other with wine in hand. I felt a connection not only with them as people, but with how they love each other.
Although I photograph weddings for a living, I am not jaded. I don’t ever want that to happen and I welcome all the emotion, all the feelings and try to not only be in my creative mind set, but also present in what my couples are feeling throughout the day. I check in constantly.
On this particular day I checked in more than usual. I found myself stopping to wipe my tears away (often) and soak in the intensity that was happening all around me. The way Amber’s family prays together and share a bond so special, it’s hard to show it justice with photos. The way Shaun locked eyes with her before allowing himself to step back and see her for the first time that day. The words they said to each other and the promises they made with such honesty and raw authenticity.
These connections, these moments are what keep me coming back for more and leave me inspired to create something similar one day.
Amber and Shaun, thank you for your hospitality, your trust in me and for blowing my mind all day long.
